Configuring layers

A key piece of the ArcGIS Viewer for Silverlight Application Builder is the Configure Layers panel. This panel allows you to specify the draw order of layers, set transparency and symbology, configure pop-up windows, and more. The Configure Layers panel is part of the Application Builder and is separate from the Map Contents panel, which is part of the Viewer application being configured. Configuration options available in the Application Builder depend on the type of layer being configured. See Layer types for information on each of these layer types and the configuration options available.

To begin configuring layers, see the following steps:

  1. Open the Configure Layers panel by clicking the Layers button on the Map tab of the Application Builder toolbar.
  2. Select the layer you want to configure in the panel, and click the Configure button at the bottom of the panel. Alternatively, you can right-click the layer and click Configure. The Configure Layers panel flips and displays the available configuration options for the layer. If you do not see a particular option for your layer, it means the layer type does not support that configuration option:
