Setting a project source

You can download mobile projects from the following sources using the field application running on a Windows or Windows Mobile device:

• Mobile content server (a component of an ArcGIS Server)
• ArcGIS Online
• Portal for ArcGIS

The field applications provide you with a project download source setting so that you can set a default location from where you want to download projects, thus eliminating the amount of time you spend on setting a project source repetitively.

Setting the project download source on a Windows device

Steps:

1. Start the ArcGIS application running on a Windows device (see Running the application for the first time to know how to do so).
2. From any page in the application, tap the upper left menu button , then select View and Manage Settings.
3. Tap the Project Download Source button.

   The Project Download Source page appears.

4. Tap ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Online, or ArcGIS Portal to set the project source. For ArcGIS Server or ArcGIS Portal, enter the uniform resource locator (URL) for the chosen data source.
5. Tap Ok to set the source.

Next time when you download a project, the application will take you directly to the sign in page of the corresponding project source. See Downloading projects and operational map layers to know how to download projects to a Windows device.

Setting the project download source on a Windows Mobile device

Steps:

1. Start the ArcGIS application running on a Windows Mobile device (see Running the application for the first time to know how to do so).
2. If you have a project open in the application, close the project (see Opening/Closing/Deleting projects to know how to do so).
3. On the Choose Project To Open page, tap Menu on the bottom right, then tap Set Project Source.

   The Project Download Source page appears.

4. Tap ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Online, or ArcGIS Portal to set the project source. For ArcGIS Server or ArcGIS Portal, enter the uniform resource locator (URL) for the chosen data source, then tap Next.
5. On the next page, sign in by providing your credentials, then tap Next (for ArcGIS Online or Portal for ArcGIS) or OK (for ArcGIS Server) to complete the authentication process.

   If you sign in successfully to an ArcGIS Server, you will see a list of projects and you can tap one to start downloading it immediately. If you sign in successfully to ArcGIS Online or Portal for ArcGIS, you will see a list of groups to which you belong. Tap a group to see its projects and you can tap a project to download it.
