Using map services on ArcGIS 10.1

Once you have published map services those map services can be used in a large number of Esri and non-Esri applications. ArcGIS for Desktop

ArcGIS for Server content can be added to ArcMap (as well as ArcScene and ArcGlobe) as map layers.

ArcGIS Explorer
