System requirements

This topic highlights the minimum application and/or system requirements necessary to build Windows Phone applications using the ArcGIS Runtime SDK for Windows Phone. You can develop on Windows 7 or Windows 8.

Windows Phone application development on Windows 7

• Windows Phone SDK 7.1
• Applications must target the Windows Phone OS 7.1
• Optional—Visual Studio 2010
  • If installed before the Windows Phone SDK, you will not see Visual Studio 2010 Express for Windows Phone on your Start menu, and the tools will integrate into your full version of Visual Studio 2010.
• Optional—Expression Blend 4
  • If installed before the Windows Phone SDK, you will not see Microsoft Expression Blend for Windows Phone on your Start menu, and the tools will integrate into your full version of Expression Blend.
• Optional—A Windows Phone device registered for development. Registering your device allows you to deploy and test applications on your phone without going through the Windows Phone Marketplace. See How to: Use the Developer Registration Tool for Windows Phone.

Windows Phone application development on Windows 8

• Windows Phone SDK 8.0
• Applications can target the Windows Phone OS 7.1 or 8.0
• Optional—Visual Studio 2012
  • If installed before the Windows Phone SDK, you will not see Visual Studio Express 2012 for Windows Phone on your Start screen, and the tools will integrate into your full version of Visual Studio 2012.
• Optional—Blend for Visual Studio 2012
