Software requirements
Java support
- J2SE: Refer to your web server documentation for supported JRE and/or JDK versions.
Microsoft .NET Framework support
- Web Adaptor for IIS requires Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 (SP1) in order to be installed. Once installed, you can optionally download and install the ArcGIS 10.1 SP1 Web Adaptor (IIS) .NET 4 Support and Trust Patch to add support for Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 and 4.5.
- If you haven't done so already, you'll need to install .NET Framework Version 4.0 or 4.5 on your own. Once installed, you can modify your Web Adaptor's application pool to target version 4.0. The 4.0 application pool version corresponds to .NET Framework Versions 4.0 and 4.5. The instructions for configuring the Web Adaptor application pool to target version 4.0 are included in the patch.
- If you do not download and install the patch, your Web Adaptor's application pool will only be able to target version 2.0. The 2.0 application pool version corresponds to .NET Framework Version 3.5 SP1.
- The .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 is available from the Microsoft site or from the ArcGIS Server media. However, on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 must be installed using Windows Features. Follow the instructions below to install version 3.5 SP1 on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2:
Windows 7
- Go to Control Panel>Programs and Features>Turn Windows Features on or off. Enable and install Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1.
Windows Server 2008 R2
- Open Server Manager>Features>Add Features. Enable and install Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1.
Operating system requirements and limitations
- Application/web servers and databases are supported on Linux x86_64 and on CPUs that adhere to the x86_64 architecture (64-bit), with supported Linux releases.
- Windows 8 (64 bit), Windows 7 (64 bit), Vista (64 bit), and XP (64 bit): These operating systems are supported for basic testing and application development use only. They are not recommended for deployment in a production environment.
