Integrated Development Environment (IDE) requirements
It is recommended that you use a Java Application Server for production hosting of Java web applications. The Java Web Applications Manager is intended only for creation and testing of web applications created by the Java Web Applications Manager. The following Java application servers are supported:

Integrated Development Environment (IDE) requirements
Any IDE may be used to build Server Objects Extensions and web services based on Java applications with the AgsJWS SOAP toolkit. However, Eclipse is highly recommended. The Esri Eclipse plug-ins offer an enhanced developer experience through templates, code snippets, and project wizards. Below are the tested combinations of Eclipse and various operating systems:

Java requirements
JDK version 6 Update 20 or greater is required for Java development. 32-bit or 64-bit versions of the JDK may be used.

Limitations
- Application/web servers and databases are supported on Linux x86_64, on CPUs that adhere to the x86_64 architecture (64-bit), with supported Linux releases.
- Windows 7, Vista, and XP are supported for basic testing and application development use only. They are not recommended for deployment in a production environment.
