Geometry is extended by classes used for representing map features and shapes. Some uses are:
- In a Filter, to find features within or near the geometry.
- In a GeometryElement of an AcetateLayer, to display the geometry on a map.
- In a FeatureTable returned from a query. If geometry is requested in the query, then the shape column will contain geometry objects for each returned feature.
- For projecting a geometry object to a different coordinate system, use Projection.
Classes that extend Geometry are:
- Envelope,
- Point,
- Multipoint,
- Polyline, and
- Polygon.
