Installing the Eclipse plugin
ArcGIS Runtime SDK for Java provides a plugin to the Eclipse integrated development environment (IDE). The plugin incorporates the API jar files, a set of tools and documentation into the IDE to help developers create applications using the ArcGIS Runtime API for Java.
- Start the Eclipse application.
- In the Eclipse main menu, click Help > Install New Software
- The Install window appears.
- Click the Add button.
- The Add Repository dialog box appears.
- In the Name text box, type a name of your choice. For example, ArcGIS Runtime SDK for Java.
- Click the Local button. In the Browse For Folder dialog box, navigate to <ArcGIS Runtime SDK installation folder>/sdk/Eclipse Plugin. Select the Eclipse Plugin folder.
- Click OK to close the Browse For Folder dialog box.
- Click OK to close the Add Repository dialog box.
- The plugin appears in the main list area of the Install window, as shown in the following image.
- Check the ArcGIS Runtime for Java check box to select the plugin.
- Click Next. The Install window asks you to review the item to be installed.
- Click Next.
- Accept the license agreement and click Finish.
- Agree to restart Eclipse for the plugin components to be made available.
Note:
If you are using Eclipse Indigo on Vista or Windows 7 and have issues installing this plugin, you may have to run Eclipse as an administrator.
