Installing the Eclipse plugin

ArcGIS Runtime SDK for Java provides a plugin to the Eclipse integrated development environment (IDE). The plugin incorporates the API jar files, a set of tools and documentation into the IDE to help developers create applications using the ArcGIS Runtime API for Java.

  1. Start the Eclipse application.
  2. In the Eclipse main menu, click Help > Install New Software
  3. The Install window appears.

  4. Click the Add button.
  5. The Add Repository dialog box appears.

  6. In the Name text box, type a name of your choice. For example, ArcGIS Runtime SDK for Java.
  7. Click the Local button. In the Browse For Folder dialog box, navigate to <ArcGIS Runtime SDK installation folder>/sdk/Eclipse Plugin. Select the Eclipse Plugin folder.
  8. Click OK to close the Browse For Folder dialog box.
  9. Click OK to close the Add Repository dialog box.
  10. The plugin appears in the main list area of the Install window, as shown in the following image.

  11. Check the ArcGIS Runtime for Java check box to select the plugin.
  12. Click Next. The Install window asks you to review the item to be installed.
  13. Click Next.
  14. Accept the license agreement and click Finish.
  15. Agree to restart Eclipse for the plugin components to be made available.
NoteNote:

If you are using Eclipse Indigo on Vista or Windows 7 and have issues installing this plugin, you may have to run Eclipse as an administrator.
