An Overview of the Business Analyst Territory Design Toolbox

The Territory Design toolbox provides a powerful set of tools to create and balance territories for point and polygon datasets. The available tools allow you to automate workflows and share across your organization.

Tool	Description
Add Territory Level	Tool allows adding new territory level to the selected territory hierarchy.
Build Territory Index	Tool allows building territory adjacency index for specified feature layer which will be used as Alignment Layer in Territory Solutions. This index is increasing performance of creating, balancing and adjusting territories.
Create Territories	Tool creates new Territories at specified Solution on selected territory level.
Create Territory Solution	Tool creates a new Territory Solution with one empty territory level.
Import Territories From Database	Tool imports entire territories hierarchy from territories database.
Import Territory Solution	Tool allows creating new Territory Solution based on an existing Solution and a new Alignment Layer. The new Solution must contain territories hierarchy, variables, constraints and all others from the base Territory Solution. In other words, the tool must copy the base Territory Solution and change its Alignment Layer.
Import Variables by Attribute Join	Tool allows joining external variables to the Territory Solution by attribute intersection.
Import Variables by Spatial Join	Tool allows joining external variables to the Territory Solution by spatial intersection.
Setup Level Balancing Variables	Tool allows setup level balancing variables.
Setup Level Capacity Constraints	Tool allows setup level capacity constraints.
Setup Level Distance Constraints	Tool allows setup distance constraints for the territories at the specified level.
Setup Level Territory Shape Parameters	Tool allows setup level parameters for further create or balance territories.
Setup Solution Barriers	Tool allows setup Solution Barriers. Growing territories will not cross barriers’ lines; bat can swing line barriers around extreme points. Territories growing by drive distance or drive time will not cross point barriers too.
Setup Solution Extent by Boundary of Layer	Tool allows setup Territory Extent to the Territory Solution by boundary of a polygonal layer.
Setup Solution Extent by Current Map View	Tool allows setup Territory Extent to the Territory Solution by extent of the active map.
Setup Solution Extent by Current Selection	Tool allows setup Territory Extent to the Territory Solution by current selection on the active map.
Setup Solution Restricted Areas	Tool allows setup Solution Restriction Areas. Territories will not creating inside Restricted Area’s polygons.
