Customizing the Parcel Editor toolbar

This topic applies to ArcGIS for Desktop Standard and ArcGIS for Desktop Advanced only.

Complexity: Beginner Data Requirement: Local Government Sample Data Data Path: \TaxParcelEditingMap\MapsandGeodatabase\ Goal: You can add, remove, and rearrange the buttons on the Parcel Editor toolbar.

You can add, remove, and rearrange the buttons on the Parcel Editor toolbar when a Local Government Information Model enabled parcel fabric layer is displayed in ArcMap.

Attributes window

Most parcel editing workflows require updating or adding attributes on existing or newly created parcels. Attributes for the parcel can be updated under the Properties tab on the Parcel Details dialog box. Dimensions and attributes on parcel lines can be updated under the Lines tab.

If you only need to update parcel attributes, you can instead use the Attributes window Attributes to quickly and easily make updates.

The Attributes window is, by default, available on the Editor toolbar. To reduce the number of toolbars needed to edit parcels, it is recommended that the Attributes window be added to the Parcel Editor toolbar. The following steps show you how to add the Attributes window to the Parcel Editor toolbar:

Steps:
  1. In ArcMap, click Customize > Customize Mode.
  2. On the Customize dialog box under the Toolbars tab, make sure the Parcel Editor toolbar is chosen.

Unchecking Parcel Editor will remove the toolbar from the map document.

    TipTip:

Click Reset to restore the selected toolbar to its original configuration.

  3. Customize dialog box
  4. Click the Commands tab and type attributes in the Show commands containing text box.
  5. Select Editor on the Categories list box.
  6. Select the Attributes command, hold down the left mouse button, and drag the mouse cursor (holding the command) to the location on the Parcel Editor toolbar shown below:
