Adding point events by coordinate location

Point events such as crashes and traffic count sites can be represented as a single point event with measure information along the route. The Add Point Events widget allows users to create new point events by typing or selecting its x,y coordinates.

注注:

If the event ID field in the event layer is not a String data type (minimum 32-character length), then the RCE will not provide an event ID, and the RCE will not support editing that event. It's important to model internal events with an event ID. For more information, see Overview of the Roadway Characteristics Editor deployment guide.

步骤:
  1. Open the Roadway Characteristics Editor in a web browser and click the Edit tab.
  2. In the Edit Events group, click Point Events.

The Add Point Event dialog box appears.

Accessing the Add Point Events tool

Add Point Events dialog box with Coordinates

  3. Select an event layer to edit from the Event Layer drop-down list.
  4. Select the Network (LRM) that will serve as a source for providing the measure for the new point event.
  5. Enter the Route ID on which the new measure will be based or use the Select Route on the Map tool to pick a route from the map.
  6. In the Location section, click the Method drop-down list and select Coordinates.
  7. Input the coordinate values for X and Y or select a coordinate by using the Select an XY Location on the Map tool.

If the Route ID is specified, the route measure closest to the original coordinates will be selected and its distance from the route will be displayed. To display the location of your coordinates, select Show XY Location.

  8. Optionally input the GC Factor if relevant.

This will adjust the coordinates by dividing X and Y by the value specified for GC Factor.

  9. Select a Coordinate System by choosing a spatial reference from the drop-down list.
    • LRS Map Service: The spatial reference of your LRS network
    • Web Map Spatial Reference: The spatial reference of your basemap
    • GCS_WGS_1984: A geographic spatial reference using units of degrees

Additionally, you can configure different coordinate systems by specifying the Well Known ID (WKID) in the configuration file of your Roadway Characteristics Editor. For more information, see Configuring the Roadway Characteristics Editor web application.

  10. Using the calendar control, choose the Start Date and End Date that will define the start and end dates of the event.

The start date defaults to today's date, but you can select a different date using the date picker. The end date is optional.

  11. Click Next to input the attribute values of your point event layer. Use the Show network name check box to see the LRS Network of the selected event layer.
  12. Click Save.

The new point is now created and displayed on the map.

    Alt text is required

  13. After a point event has been successfully created, you have two options to continue characterizing the route.
    • When you click New, all the input entries in the form are cleared and the default values from the geodatabase are populated into the attribute table.
    • When you click Next, all the existing entries in the form and the attribute table are retained.
