Smart launching in RCE through URL parameters

The Roadway Characteristics Editor (RCE) supports smart launching through the passing of URL parameters. The application can be smart launched to do any combination of the following upon opening:

• Automatically select a specific tab (Map, Edit, Review).
• Automatically load a specific widget (for example, Add Linear Events).
• Automatically populate a specific widget with route ID and measures.
• Automatically navigate the map to a route.
• Automatically set an attribute set.
• Automatically set an enterprise geodatabase version.
• Automatically navigate the map to a geographic extent.

The RCE comes with a web page known as a launcher that demonstrates the URL parameter settings to smart launch the RCE. This capability can be used in conjunction with ArcGIS Workflow Manager to smart launch the RCE from a job step. The following steps describe how to use the launcher application to understand how URL parameters can be passed to the RCE.

1. In a browser, type http://<YourServerName>/<YourRCEFolderName>/launcher.html and press Enter, for example, http://rhtest12x64a/RCE/Launcher.html.

   The Roadway Characteristics Editor Launcher dialog box appears.

   The URL section at the bottom only shows the URL you just entered in the browser.

   注:

   • Steps 2 though 9 are optional. The URL portrays and launches RCE only with the information you have provided in the Roadway Characteristics Editor Launcher dialog box.
   • You can use the URL created in the Roadway Characteristics Editor Launcher dialog box as a guide to produce your own custom URLs that you can use to launch the RCE with Workflow Manager. For more information on launching a URL through Workflow Manager, see Creating step types.
   • The information from the drop-down list is added to the URL.

2. Click the Tab drop-down arrow and choose 2 - Edit.

3. In the Widget drop-down list, choose 1 - Add Linear Events.
4. In the Network ID drop-down list, choose the network with ID = 4.
5. In the Route ID drop-down list, choose a Route ID from the drop-down list or type a valid Route ID.
6. Type a (From) Measure value for the new event.
7. Type a To Measure value for the new event.
8. Type a Version name for the database.
9. Optionally provide extents for zooming in to the map.

   If you do not provide any extents, the map will be zoomed to the selected route.

   注:

   The information you provided is appended to the URL.

10. Click Launch RCE.

    Copy the URL and paste it into a new browser window, and press Enter.

    A new browser window opens with the RCE. The Add Linear Events widget is opened with prepopulated values and zoomed to the route using a specific version of the database. The From Measure and To Measure values are located on the map.
