Splitting a centerline by measure

The Split Centerline By Measure tool is one of the centerline feature class editing tools available in Esri Roads and Highways. This tool is particularly useful if you know the measure value on a route for the location of the split. This tool splits that centerline into two contiguous parts on either side of the measure value of the route. Esri Roads and Highways also supports splitting a centerline at the location clicked on the map (see Splitting centerlines).

注注:

You should not use the Split tool on the ArcMap Editor toolbar to split a centerline. Instead, you should use the Split Centerline tool on the Roads And Highways Editing toolbar to split a centerline. This tool ensures that when a centerline is split, the source centerline's association to routes in all networks across all time is maintained.

步骤:
  1. Start ArcMap and add the centerline and the network layers to the map.
  2. Start an edit session and zoom to the centerline that you want to split.

For more information on how to start an edit session, see About edit sessions.

  3. On the Roads And Highways Editing toolbar, click the Split Centerline By Measure tool Split Centerlines By Measure.
  4. Click a point on the centerline where you want it to split.

The route is highlighted in light green, and a point appears at the location and the Split Centerline By Measure dialog box appears. The measure value at the location is 8.32 miles. You can change the measure value in the Measure field (say 8.36 miles).

Click on the map to split

    Changing the measure values

The point now moves to the location where the measure value is 8.36 miles.

    New split location

  5. Click OK.

The centerline is now split on both sides of the route's measure value of 8.36 miles.
