Instrument approach profile view tray element portrayal (Aviation)

There are two styles you can choose to display the tray element in an instrument approach profile view: Distance Values Style or Scale Bar Style.

Distance values style

You can choose to either draw the instrument approach profile view to scale or not to scale by using the Draw to Scale property in the Instrument Approach Profile Settings dialog box. Either portrayal may be chosen on a chart-by-chart basis; however, you can change settings to further customize the look and feel of the tray value elements across all charts as well.

If the distance values are drawn to scale, the tray element draws unrelated to the rest of the instrument approach profile view elements and will have the following behaviors:

• The verticals in the instrument approach profile view will not move as the tray element is edited.
• The tray element is drawn to scale based on the sum of the distance values in the data.
• Tray values are initially placed using the distance to the closest edge of the runway feature. (The runway feature can be moved independently of this reference point. Once the instrument approach profile view is created, if the runway feature is moved, the tray values will not change.)
• If you insert a distance value into the tray element, the entire tray will update to reflect the scale change.

Scale bar style

If the Scale Bar style is chosen, the tray element draws to scale, unrelated to the rest of the instrument approach profile view elements, and will have the following behaviors:

• The verticals in the instrument approach profile view will not move as the tray element is edited.
• The scale bar starts at zero, using the runway as the starting point, unless a distance before zero is specified in the instrument approach profile view settings.
• The runway element can be moved independently of the scale bar.
• The scale bar will not change if the runway element is moved.
