Introduction to configuring the BIS workspace in SQL Server Express (Bathymetry Solution)
The geodatabase is a container used to hold a collection of datasets. The SQL Server Express setup for the Bathymetric Information System (BIS) geodatabase can be one of two types:
- ArcSDE personal geodatabase—Stored in a relational database. ArcGIS for Maritime: Bathymetry supports an ArcSDE geodatabase for SQL Server Express licensed for ArcGIS for Desktop. This multiuser geodatabase requires the use of ArcSDE, has a 2 GB size limit, and is limited to one editor and four viewers.
- ArcSDE workgroup geodatabase—Stored in a relational database. ArcGIS for Maritime: Bathymetry supports an ArcSDE geodatabase for SQL Server Express licensed for ArcGIS for Server Workgroup. This multiuser geodatabase requires the use of ArcSDE, has a 2 GB size limit, and is limited to 10 editors.
