Generating annotation (Maritime Charting)

Once all the labels have been activated, they need to be converted into feature-linked annotation. Feature-linked annotation will still update if attributes are changed on the features from which they were produced.

手順:
  1. Start ArcMap.
  2. Open the product map document.
  3. Ensure that all the feature classes with labels have those labels turned on.
  4. Be sure that feature classes that are empty and/or are features that don't need labels do not have labeling enabled.
  5. Review label settings for each feature class with labeling enabled. You may need to adjust label class settings such as placement, font size, style, color, and so forth.
  6. On the main menu, click View Data Frame Properties and make sure that the Reference Scale property is set on the General tab.
  7. In the Table Of Contents window, right-click the Layers data frame, then click Convert Labels to Annotation.
    注意注意:

You can also right-click individual layers and click Convert Labels to Annotation, creating the annotation classes one at a time.

  8. In the dialog box that appears, keep all the default settings unless there are feature classes that you do not want to convert into annotation.

If this is the case, uncheck those particular feature classes.

  9. Click Convert.

All feature classes with labels turned on will be converted into annotation feature classes and added to the top of the Table Of Contents window.

  10. Move all the Grids to the top of the Table Of Contents window.
  11. Select all of the annotation feature classes, right-click, and click Group.
  12. Rename the Grouped layer as Anno.
  13. Save the map document.
    注意注意:

Remember you are working in a versioned environment and will need to reconcile and run Nautical Post to post changes to the DEFAULT version.
