Geo - Angle Directed layout algorithm properties
When the Geo - Angle Directed schematic layout algorithm is chosen in the Layout Task drop-down list, clicking the Layout Algorithm Properties button on the Schematic Editor toolbar opens its associated properties dialog box as follows:
The parameter values are either those specified by default by Schematics or specifically set as the default for the schematic diagram template related to the active diagram using the Schematic Dataset Editor Layouts tab for this schematic diagram template.
Number of Iterations parameter
The Number of Iterations parameter value determines the number of Geo - Angle Directed algorithm iterations that are executed before the final result is shown.
The figures below show the results obtained for the same schematic diagram with different values for the Number of Iterations parameter:
- Figure 1.1 shows the initial state of the schematic diagram.
- Figure 1.2 shows the diagram after the Angle Directed layout algorithm is executed with 10 iterations (Number of Iterations = 10).
- Figure 1.3 is obtained after the Angle Directed layout algorithm is executed with 80 iterations.
Direction options
The direction options specify the number of directions that can be used to align the schematic links.
- Choose 12 directions (30 degrees increment) if you want the schematic links to move so they progressively approach one of the 12 axes starting with the link's origin node and inclined at 30, 60, 90, 120, 150, 180, 210, 240, 270, 300, 330, or 360 degrees.
- Choose 8 directions (45 degrees increment) if you want the schematic links to move so they progressively approach one of the 8 axes starting with the link's origin node and inclined at 45, 90, 135, 180, 225, 270, 315, or 360 degrees.
- Choose 4 directions (90 degrees increment) if you want the schematic links to move so they progressively approach one of the 4 axes starting with the link's origin node and inclined at 90, 180, 270, or 360 degrees.
The figures below show the impact of the direction options:
- Figure 2.1 shows the initial schematic diagram.
- Figure 2.2 shows the Angle Directed result with the 4 directions option.
- Figure 2.3 shows the Angle Directed result with the 8 directions option.
- Figure 2.4 shows the Angle Directed result with the 12 directions option.
Restore Defaults button
Click the Restore Defaults button to reset all the Angle Directed parameters to their default values. The restored values are those either specified by default by Schematics or specifically set as the default for the schematic diagram template related to the active diagram using the Schematic Dataset Editor Layouts tab for this schematic diagram template.
