System requirements

This topic highlights the minimum application and/or system requirements necessary to build Windows Phone applications using the ArcGIS Runtime SDK for Windows Phone.

Windows Phone application development

• Windows 7 or Windows Vista with Service Pack 2 operating system (all editions except Starter Edition)
  Note:

  The Windows Phone emulator is not supported on Windows XP, Windows Server, Virtual PC, or Hyper-V.

• Windows Phone SDK 7.1, which includes:
  • Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Express for Windows Phone
  • Windows Phone Emulator
  • Windows Phone SDK 7.1 Assemblies
  • Silverlight 4 SDK and DRT
  • Windows Phone SDK 7.1 Extensions for XNA Game Studio 4.0
  • Microsoft Expression Blend SDK for Windows Phone 7
  • Microsoft Expression Blend SDK for Windows Phone 7.1
  • WCF Data Services Client for Windows Phone
  • Microsoft Advertising SDK for Windows Phone
  • Windows Phone Developer Registration tool
  Note:

• Applications must target the Windows Phone OS 7.1.
• Optional: Visual Studio 2010
  • If installed before the Windows Phone Developer Tools, you will not see Visual Studio 2010 Express for Windows Phone in your Start menu, and the tools will be integrated into your full version of Visual Studio 2010.
• Optional: Expression Blend 4
  • If installed before the Windows Phone Developer Tools, you will not see Microsoft Expression Blend for Windows Phone in your Start menu, and the tools will be integrated into your full version of Expression Blend.
• Optional: A Windows Phone device registered for development. Registering your device allows you to deploy and test applications on your phone without going through the Windows Phone Marketplace. See How to: Use the Developer Registration Tool for Windows Phone.
