Packaging data

Using Mobile Project Center (MPC), you can package data from mobile services into mobile caches. If your project contains hosted feature services, you must also package data before you can save the project. You can also delete existing mobile caches and re-package data to reflect the most recent data change from a database or project extent change.

Package data

Steps:
  1. Create a new project in MPC and add operational layers from mobile services or feature services (read How to add operational map layers for more information), or open an existing project that includes service-based operational layers.
  2. If you want to use a specific area as the project extent, navigate to that area, click Project > Project Extent > Set to current visible extent, or click Set to full extent if you want to use the full map extent.
  3. Click Project > Package Data > Package.

MPC creates a mobile cache for each service and saves the mobile cache into a temporary location. When you save the project, MPC copies all mobile caches to the project folder. You can find the mobile caches together with their attachments (if applicable) when you browse the project folder.

Re-package data

You may want to delete the existing caches and recreate them for your project. For example, if you want to re-cache the data that has been updated by another user on the back-end database, or if you want to set another project extent to package data, use MPC to delete the caches before re-packaging.

Steps:
  1. If you only want to refresh mobile cache data for data change in a geodatabase, you can skip this step.
    1. Click Project > Project Extent > Set to current visible extent.
    2. On the map preview, navigate to another extent that you will package. Click Project > Project Extent > Set to current visible extent.
  2. Click Project > Package Data > Delete Caches.
  3. Click Project > Package Data > Package.
  4. Click File > Save.
