View map task
When you open a mobile project, you can use the view map task to explore your mobile map. If you use a Windows device, the task displays the map automatically; If you use a Windows Mobile device, you can tap the View Map task to open the map.
The map displays the list of visible operational and basemap layers. To ensure your operational data aligns correctly with your basemap, the Microsoft Windows dots per inch (DPI) scale must be set to 100%.
Map navigation
The View Map task includes a set of menu items and buttons that you can use to change the scale of the map:
- Zoom in
- Zoom out
- Pan or recenter map
- Zoom to full extent
If you have connected a GPS receiver to the field application, you can use the Menu > Keep GPS In View setting to enable the application to pan the map automatically when the GPS position reaches the edge of the map.
Map layer visibility
Using the Menu > Layer Visibility menu item, you can check/uncheck the list of operational layers and baemap layers to change their visibility settings.
Identify features
If you tap Task > Identify (in Windows device), or Menu > Identify (in Windows Mobile device), you can tap or drag a box across the features you want to identify. The result is presented, and you can view and edit the features, or perform other operations.
Measure distance, area, or features
Tapping Task > Identify (in Windows device), or Menu > Identify (in Windows Mobile device), you can measure distance or length, area, or a feature. Measure uses the snapping setting if it is enabled. To know more about snapping, read Map settings.
The result of what you measure can be displayed in different units.
