Deploying a mobile project
After you create a project in Mobile Project Center, you can manually deploy the project by copying it through a desktop connection to a Windows Mobile device or Windows device, as described below.
For details on sharing your project to ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Online, or Portal for ArcGIS and have your field workers download the project from the field, see Sharing mobile projects. You can also deploy a project through a third-party deployment system. For details on project deployment, see About sharing and deploying mobile projects.
Deploying projects to Windows Mobile devices via a desktop connection
Steps:
- Connect the mobile device to your desktop machine through Windows Mobile Device Center (for Windows Vista or Windows 7) or ActiveSync (for Windows XP).
- Open Windows Explorer, copy the mobile project you created in Mobile Project Center from the Local Project Directory. You can find the path to this directory by clicking File > Settings > General in Mobile Project Center.
- If your project is large in size and your Windows Mobile device has a storage card installed, you can paste the project to <StorageCard>\My Documents\ArcGIS Mobile. If you do not have a storage card in your device, you can paste the project to main memory under \My Documents\ArcGIS Mobile. In either case, you need to create the folder if it does not exist.
Deploying projects to Windows devices via a desktop connection
Steps:
- Open Windows Explorer, copy the project from the Local Project Directory in Mobile Project Center. You can find the path in Mobile Project Center under File > Settings > General.
- Use a USB flash drive or other storage device to transfer the project from your desktop machine to the project folder of the Windows device. You can paste the project into the default project folder or any additional project folder you've defined on the device.
- The default project folder in Windows Vista or Windows 7 is C:\Users\<UserName>\Documents\ArcGIS Mobile. In Windows XP, it's C:\Documents and Settings\<UserName>\My Documents\ArcGIS Mobile.
- You can find a list of additional project folders you've defined by launching the ArcGIS application running on Windows device. Tap the upper left menu button, then tap View and Manage Settings > Application Settings.
