Managing Data Links

The Data Links tab in Tracking Server Manager gives you access to the various data links and connectors that connect to the tracking message server. Here, you can activate, edit, and disconnect data links as needed.

Tracking Server contains three out-of-the-box data links: Tracking Server Connector, Generic Input, and Feature Logger. The Tracking Server Connector data link is required to output real-time data from Tracking Server to client applications. The Generic Input data link offers ways to bring data into Tracking Server. The Feature Logger data link is used to output data from Tracking Server into a database.

In addition to the data links mentioned above, custom data links can also be created for Tracking Server. This procedure explains, in general, how to edit the properties of a data link. It applies to the three out-of-the-box data links as well as custom data links.

NoteNote:

The Feature Logger data link must be running to access the Feature Logger Properties dialog box. If you double-click Feature Logger and it does not start, a message box appears asking you if you want to start the data link. Click Yes to access the Feature Logger Properties dialog box.
