Removing a layer
Each layer that you add to the map can be removed, with the exception of the basemap. Your map must contain a basemap, whether it is one of the default services from ArcGIS Online or your own. For more information, see Configuring basemaps.

You cannot remove or change the position of the basemap. It can, however, be renamed.
- Open the Configure Layers panel.
- Select the layer to remove.
- Click the Remove button on the toolbar at the bottom of the Configure Layers panel. Alternatively, select the layer in the Configure Layers panel, right-click, and click Remove layer.
