About migrating from Visual Studio 2005 to 2008
Visual Studio 2005 and 2008 are supported by the 9.3 Web Application Developer Framework (ADF). Visual Studio 2008 also includes the .NET Framework version 3.5, which builds on (requires) .NET 3.0 and .NET 2.0, all supported by the ArcGIS 9.3 Web ADF.
Migrating .NET applications from Visual Studio 2005 to Visual Studio 2008 is a relatively seamless process. Visual Studio 2008 contains a migration utility to convert applications. For Web applications, you can set the .NET build version to 2.0, 3.0, or 3.5.
Microsoft Active Server Pages (ASP) .NET Asynchronous JavaScript and XML (AJAX) components are included with .NET 3.5; therefore, a separate download is not required if Web applications build against .NET 3.5.
