Enabling editing on hosted feature services

When you first publish a hosted feature service, only you have access to it. Once you share the service with your organization or specific groups in your organization, those users can view the features in the hosted feature service. If you want members of your organization to edit the hosted feature service, you must enable editing. Only the publisher of the service or the portal administrator can enable editing on a hosted feature service.

Follow these steps to enable editing:

  1. Sign in to the portal website as the owner of the service or as the portal administrator.
  2. Open the Item Details of the hosted feature service for which you want to enable editing.
  3. Click Edit to change the item properties.
  4. Check Enable editing and allow editors to.
  5. Choose which level of editing you want to allow on the feature service:
    • Add, update, and delete features—Anyone with access to the service can add or delete features, move existing features, and update feature attributes.
    • Update feature attributes only—Anyone with access to the service can edit attributes of existing features.
    • Add features only—Anyone with access to the service can add features to the service.
  6. Click Save to save your changes to the hosted feature service details.
