Setup Solution Barriers (Territory Design)
Summary
Allows the setup of Solution Barriers for a territory solution.
For example, territories will not intersect a line barrier when Straight Line distance is used, thus creating a "dead zone". Territories derived using Drive Distance or Drive Times, however, do not have dead zones as a road network can skirt around such barriers.
Usage
-
Polygonal, line or poly-line, point or multipoint layers can be used as Barriers.
Barriers is an optional parameter. The pound sign, "#", can be specified instead to remove all Barriers from the Territory Solution.
Newly specified Barriers will replace existing Barriers layers.
Syntax
Parameter | Explanation | Data Type |
in_territory_solution_layer |
The Territory Solution layer used to setup the parameters. | GP TD Layer |
in_barriers [in_barriers,...] (Optional) |
The Barriers layer. | feature Layer |

The following Python window script demonstrates how to use the tool in immediate mode.
import arcgisscripting
gp = arcgisscripting.create()
gp.SetupSolutionBarriers_TD("new layer", "C:/Layer1.lyr;C:/Layer2.lyr")
The following stand-alone script demonstrates how to use the tool.
# Import system modules
import arcgisscripting
gp = arcgisscripting.create()
# Set local variables
solution = "new layer"
barriers = "C:/Layer1.lyr;C:/Layer2.lyr"
# Execute tool
gp.SetupSolutionBarriers_TD(solution, barriers)
