Adding Esri map layers

As a member of an organization, you can browse and add Esri map layers directly to your map . The layers are preselected by Esri and include imagery, demographics, land cover, and so on.

Esri map layers require an organizational subscription to access and, in some cases, consume credits. These are identified in the item description.

Steps:
  1. Verify that you are signed in with an organizational account.
  2. Open the ArcGIS.com map viewer.
  3. Click the Add button.
  4. Choose Browse Esri Map Layers. The Browse Esri Map Layers window opens with a gallery of layers. The gallery is based on the current extent of your map.
  5. Choose a category of layers such as imagery or people or use the keyword-based search to find a specific layer. You can also page through all the available layers.
  6. Hover over a thumbnail to see a description of the layer.
  7. Click Add To Map and As Layer or As Basemap to add the layer to your map.
