More information: In some cases, this message is displayed in conjunction with a more specific licensing warning, such as not being able to edit topology, dimensions, or geometric networks. You also can receive this error if you attempt to edit data in an ArcSDE geodatabase when using an ArcGIS for Desktop Basic license since you need an ArcGIS for Desktop Standard or ArcGIS for Desktop Advanced license to edit data in ArcSDE.
