Profile Tool Options
The Profile Tool Options window provides quick access to the Point budget drop-down menu in ArcMap, which controls the maximum number of points that can be used in the 2D Profile View window.
A selected set of lidar points from a LAS dataset can be displayed and edited using the LAS dataset Profile View window, which is accessed from the LAS Dataset toolbar in ArcMap. Visualizing cross sections of lidar data allows you to analyze collections of points from a unique perspective. A full-resolution point set is always displayed in the Profile View window. If a thinned set of points is displayed in the ArcMap display window, the selection box used to create the 2D profile will select a full-resolution point set to be shown in the Profile View window. You are able to control the maximum number of LAS dataset points used in the 2D Profile View window through the Profile Tool Options.
- Select the LAS Dataset drop-down menu from the LAS Dataset toolbar.
- Select the Profile Tool Options option.
- Select the desired point budget from the Point budget drop-down menu.
Once the Point budget has been selected, click the LAS Dataset Profile View button to draw a 2D profile with a new maximum point budget set.
