Creating web applications with the ArcGIS Viewer for Silverlight

The ArcGIS Viewer for Silverlight is a ready-to-deploy web application built on the ArcGIS API for Silverlight. It allows you to create custom GIS web-mapping applications without programming. The ArcGIS Viewer for Silverlight is designed to work with the services from ArcGIS Server and ArcGIS Online. It can also reference intelligent web maps that you've authored using ArcGIS.com or Portal for ArcGIS.

Using the ArcGIS Viewer for Silverlight, you can quickly create web-mapping applications without writing any code, since the architecture of the application is exposed through an interactive Application Builder. As you configure your viewer with the Application Builder, updates are displayed in real time, giving you full control of what your changes will look like. Once you are satisfied with your web-mapping application, you can either immediately deploy it to the web or save it for later.

The viewer allows you to navigate maps, find addresses and place-names, run GIS analysis, view tabular data for datasets within a map, zoom to layers and selected features, print web maps, and more. The viewer also lets you integrate new functionality using add-ins. Add-ins are snippets of code that contain one or more tools or map behaviors that interact with the viewer. Typically, add-ins are created with the ArcGIS API for Silverlight and the native Silverlight API libraries.
