Setting the rotation of a 3D symbol
Follow the steps below to set a 3D symbol to use a different rotation angle than the default.
Click the symbol in the table of contents and click Edit Symbol from the Symbol Selector dialog box to open the Symbol Property Editor.
Note that the 3D marker symbol will rotate arithmetically about the axis. Arithmetic rotation uses 0 degree equals East, and 90 degrees equals North. Therefore, positive values will result in a counterclockwise rotation.
Steps:
- In the Symbol Property Editor dialog box, click the 3D Placement property tab for your 3D Simple Marker, 3D Character Marker, or 3D Marker Symbol.
- Type an angle of rotation in degrees for the axis you want to modify.
-
Click OK.
The symbol is rotated along the axis in the 3D Preview window.
The image below highlights where you can set rotation angles for 3D symbols.
Tip:
- Instead of typing in a number for the offset, you can click the arrows on the right side of the rotation angles' boxes.
