Copying and pasting graphics from ArcMap into ArcGlobe

You can copy graphics created in ArcMap and paste directly into ArcGlobe.

Steps:
  1. Create the graphic element in ArcMap using the Draw toolbar.
  2. Alternatively, you can create 3D graphics using tools, such as Contour Lines Create Contour or Line Of Sight Create Line of Sight, on the 3D Analyst toolbar.

  3. Use the Select Elements tool Select Elements in ArcMap to select the newly created 3D graphic.
  4. To select multiple graphics press SHIFT while selecting.
To select all graphics, click Edit > Select All Elements.
  5. Copy the selected graphics. Press CTRL+C or click the Edit menu and click Copy to copy the graphic to the clipboard.
  6. In ArcGlobe (or ArcScene), press CTRL+V or click Edit > Paste to paste the graphics.
  7. The graphic is added to the 3D view.

TipTip:
  • Creating 3D graphics in ArcMap requires a surface layer in the document.
  • Two-dimensional graphics will have z-values of 0, which may be under the surface of the 3D view. You can open the properties of 2D graphics in the 3D view and set the z-values on the Size and Position tab of the Properties dialog box. See Editing 3D graphics for more information.
