How to add a terrain layer to ArcMap

Steps:

1. Click the Add Data button on the Standard toolbar.
2. Click the Look in drop-down arrow and navigate to the folder that contains the terrain dataset.
3. Click the terrain dataset.
4. Click Add.

Note:

ArcMap creates a new terrain layer on the map that references the source terrain dataset. By default, the overview terrain dataset is displayed when zoomed to full extent or beyond.
