Resolving conflicts interactively at the field level

This topic applies to ArcGIS for Desktop Standard and ArcGIS for Desktop Advanced only.

If conflicts arise between your edited version and the target version when you reconcile, you can resolve these conflicts interactively on the Conflicts dialog box. The Conflicts dialog box appears only if you set your editing options to automatically save changes only if there are no conflicts.

When resolving conflicts at the field level, you choose which representation to use to replace specific attribute values in your edited version of the data. These changes apply to a particular field or fields.

Steps:
  1. Choose an Object ID from the list of Conflicts.
  2. In the list box in the upper right of the Conflicts dialog box, right-click the field for which there is a conflict.
    TipTip:

If you want to choose multiple fields, hold down the CTRL key and click each one you want to choose.

  3. In the context menu, click the representation—Pre-Reconcile, Conflict, or Common Ancestor—that holds the attribute value you want to use to resolve the conflict.
TipTip:
If one editor altered a feature and another editor deleted the feature, you cannot replace it with any of the representations, and those menu options are deactivated.
