Modifying the MGRS locator settings
This procedure describes how to:
- Handle cases where you don't enter all the components of the MGRS coordinate by telling ArcGIS how to obtain the missing values. For a description of each MGRS component, see MGRS.
- Specify which output fields you want ArcGIS to create and populate in feature classes created by geocoding processes.
Steps:
- Start ArcMap. In the ArcMap Main menu, click File > Add Data > Geocoding > Address Locator Manager.
- On the Address Locator Manager dialog box, in the Name area, click to highlight *MGRS (Military Grid Reference System) and click the Options button.
- On the Geocoding Options dialog box, click one of the options described in the table below to specify how you want ArcGIS to obtain a grid zone designation and 100,000-meter square identifier when the user has not specified these values:
From map center
Specifies that you want to use the grid zone designation and/or 100,000-meter square identifier values from the MGRS coordinate located at the center of the active map
Use default values
Specifies that you want to use the grid zone designation and/or 100,000-meter square identifier values that you provide in the text boxes
Last used
Specifies that you want to use the last grid zone designation and/or 100,000-meter square identifier passed to the MGRS locator
- Check the X and Y coordinates check box in the Output Fields area if you want feature classes created by geocoding processes to contain the x- and y-coordinates of the geocoded features.
-
Click OK to close the Geocoding Options dialog box and apply the settings, then click Close to close the Address Locator Manager dialog box.
ArcMap applies the settings you specified in steps 3 and 4.
