Tracking Server Installation Procedure

Steps:
  1. If you have a previous version of Tracking Server installed, you must uninstall it before installing Tracking Server 10.1.

    Uninstall any previous versions of Tracking Server using the Add/Remove Programs Control Panel.

    If you are uninstalling a version of Tracking Server prior to 10.0, keep the following special considerations in mind:

    • If you had a Gateway deployed to an application server on the same machine, delete the /Webapps/trackingserver folder to ensure the old Gateway does not interfere with the new Gateway. Also ensure that any older trackingserver.war file in the webapps folder is removed, so that it does not accidentally get re-deployed.
    • Existing Tracking Server web sites created with Tracking Server Designer will not be supported in Tracking Server 10.1. These web sites should be replaced with Tracking Viewer. However, if you have any Tracking Server webapps (sites created with Tracking Server Designer) that you want to save, you will need to backup your TXL files. To do this, move or copy your /trackingserver/txl folder to a location outside your Servlet Engine's Webapps folder.
  2. Run the Tracking Server Installation setup program by double-clicking on the Esri.exe program file. The Esri Tracking Server Installer dialog box appears.
  3. Click Setup next to "Tracking Server".
  4. If ArcGIS Engine for Windows 10.1 or ArcGIS for Desktop 10.1 is not already installed on your machine, you will be prompted to install ArcGIS Engine for Windows 10.1.

    If prompted to install ArcGIS Engine for Windows 10.1, follow the instructions to complete the installation. If ArcGIS Engine for Windows 10.1 or ArcGIS 10.1 for Desktop is already installed, you will not be prompted.

  5. Now, the Tracking Server Setup program will begin. Click the Next button on the "Welcome to the Tracking Server Installation Wizard" panel.
  6. Select the "I accept the License Agreement" radio button on the "License Agreement" panel and click the Next button.
  7. The "Destination Folder" panel appears. Click Next to accept the default installation location for Tracking Server.

    To modify the installation location of Tracking Server, click on the Browse button and navigate to the location where you would like Tracking Server to be installed. Select OK to select the location, and then click Next.

  8. The "Select Installation Type" panel appears. Select the "Complete" radio button to install all application features and click the Next button. This is the recommended option in most cases.

    To select the components you wish to install, select the "Custom" radio button and click Next. The "Select Features" panel appears. Select the features you wish to install and click Next.

  9. The "Ready to Install the Application" panel appears. The installation location where Tracking Server will be installed is shown. Click Next to proceed with the Tracking Server installation.

    If you need to make any changes to your previous selections, you should click Back and make the changes before proceeding any further.

  10. The "Updating System" panel appears during the Tracking Server installation. A status bar indicates the progress of the features currently being installed.
  11. Upon completion of Tracking Server Setup, a message is displayed indicating that Tracking Server has been successfully installed. Click Finish.
  12. The Tracking Server Post Install dialog box appears. The next section will lead you through the Post Installation procedure.
