Configuring the JET engine threshold for personal geodatabases
If you are editing large numbers of features in a personal geodatabase, you can change the JET engine max # of records to calculate advanced setting in ArcMap to accommodate a higher limit for the number of edits before saving an edit session.
Note:
- This change is recommended because if the number of edits made is greater than the threshold, all edits will be lost.
- This is mostly relevant for bulk updates. The suggested value for the threshold is dependent on your editing cycle.
Steps:
- Browse to the <Install location for ArcGIS>\Desktop10.2\Utilities directory.
- Open the ArcMap advanced settings by doing one of the following:
- For Windows XP, double-click AdvancedArcMapSettings.exe
- For Windows 7 and higher, right-click AdvancedArcMapSettings.exe and click Run as administrator. Click Yes on the User Account Control message.
The Advanced ArcMap Settings dialog box appears.
- Click the Editor tab.
- Type a new value in the JET engine max # of records to calculate
text box.
It is suggested that the number be approximately 100000 (100 thousand).
- Click Apply.
- Click the X in the upper right-hand corner to close the dialog box.
