About Esri CityEngine

Esri CityEngine is available at the Basic or Advanced level for three major operating systems: Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X. Both the Concurrent Use and Single Use versions of licensing are included in the media kit, which contains everything you need to install and use Esri CityEngine on various computers on a network. Esri CityEngine is also available for download from Esri Customer Care.

Esri CityEngine Basic

Esri CityEngine Basic is a 3D City Edit and Visualization tool. It allows you to intuitively create and maintain 3D City Scenes and provides the option to publish 3D City Scenes to ArcGIS Online. Esri CityEngine Basic supports the file Geodatabase and is available with Single Use (node-locked) licensing only.

Esri CityEngine Advanced

Esri CityEngine Advanced extends the Basic version to a professional modeling and design solution that provides the full power of procedural technology for efficient creation and design of 3D cities. Esri CityEngine Advanced comes with all the features including Python and advanced import and export format support; it is available with Single Use (node-locked) or Concurrent Use (floating) licensing.

Installation overview steps

The installation of Esri CityEngine is a multistep process:

  1. Install ArcGIS 10.2.2 License Manager (if it doesn't already exist for your use) to use the concurrent-use version. For more information, see About the license manager.

    NoteNote:

If you intend to use Esri CityEngine as a single-use version only, you do not need to install and use ArcGIS License Manager.

  2. Install Esri CityEngine 2014 using the Esri CityEngine 2014 setup.
  3. Complete the CityEngine Administrator wizard to specify your product type, assign a license manager (if using a concurrent-use license), or authorize your software (if using a single-use license).

Once installed, you can change your product level or switch between Concurrent Use and Single Use versions without uninstalling or performing any additional installation actions.
