Esri CityEngine requires authorization
Esri CityEngine needs to be authorized before use. You can visit customers.esri.com to obtain your authorization numbers (similar in format to ESU123456789) for use in the software or to create a provisioning file which can be used to complete the authorization process.
Once you've obtained your authorization number, use one of the following methods to launch the CityEngine Administrator wizard after installing Esri CityEngine 2014:
- Use the shortcut or Finder app (Mac OS only):
- In a Windows environment, click Start > All Programs > Esri > CityEngine 2014 > CityEngine 2014 Administrator.
- In a Linux desktop environment, click Esri > CityEngine 2014 > CityEngine 2014 Administrator.
- In a Mac OS environment using Finder app, click Applications > CityEngine2014 > CityEngine 2014 Administrator.
- Run the CityEngine 2014 Administrator executable or script (examples using default installation location):
- In a Windows environment: <Program Files folder>\Esri\CityEngine2014\ArcGISAdmin.exe
- In a Linux environment: ${HOME}/esri/cityengine2014/ArcGISAdmin
Types of licensing
There are two ways to license Esri CityEngine. These include the following:
Single Use license
For Single Use versions, authorization per machine is required. Once the Esri CityEngine installation is complete, you will be provided with the opportunity to authorize your single-use product.
Concurrent Use license
For Concurrent Use versions, a license allows Esri CityEngine to be used on any machine. Each installation must access a License Manager that contains the appropriate license. The License Manager, installed on the network, dictates the number of copies of Basic or Advanced that can be run simultaneously.
If you intend to use a concurrent-use license for Esri CityEngine, you need to install ArcGIS 10.2.2 License Manager (if it does not already exist for your use). To learn more about ArcGIS License Manager, see About the license manager.
