System requirements

The system specifications, including hardware requirements, supported operating systems, and web servers, that are required to run ArcGIS Spatial Data Server for IIS are available at ArcGIS Spatial Data Server for IIS system requirements.

Supported operating systems

NoteNote:

32-bit operating systems are no longer supported. The ArcGIS Spatial Data Server for IIS setup will only proceed if the operating system is 64-bit.

Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1

ArcGIS Spatial Data Server for IIS requires Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 (SP1), available on the ArcGIS for Server media. However, on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 must be installed using Windows Features. Follow the instructions below to install Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2:

Windows 7:

Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features > Turn Windows Features on or off. Enable and install Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1.

Windows Server 2008 R2:

Open Server Manager > Features > Add Features. Enable and install Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1.

Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 or higher

ArcGIS Spatial Data Server for IIS requires IIS be installed and specific IIS components enabled. Supported versions are 6.0, 7.0, and 7.5. The ArcGIS Spatial Data Server for IIS setup will not proceed if IIS is not detected and specific IIS components enabled. Follow the instructions below to install Microsoft IIS:

Windows Server 2003:

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs > Add/Remove Windows Components. Enable and install the Application Server component.

Windows Vista and Windows 7:

Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2:

For instructions on installing IIS and enabling the required role services on Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2, see Windows Server 2008/2008 R2 IIS requirements.

Microsoft SQL Server System CLR Types (64-bit)

ArcGIS Spatial Data Server for IIS requires SQL Server System CLR Types (64-bit). If the ArcGIS Spatial Data Server for IIS installation is performed through the GUI, the installation process will automatically install it for you. If you are installing ArcGIS Spatial Data Server for IIS silently or in a certain deployment environment, SQL Server System CLR Types must be installed separately. The SQL Server System CLR Types setup is available at <ArcGIS Spatial Data Server Installation folder>\Support\MSSQLCLR\x64\SQLSysCLRTypes.msi.
