Windows 8 IIS requirements

The ArcGIS 10.1 SP1 Web Adaptor (IIS) installation process on the Windows 8 operating system requires specific components of Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) to be installed. If these components are not installed, a message is displayed indicating certain IIS components are required, with the option to allow the installation process to automatically install the required IIS components.

NoteNote:

The ArcGIS 10.1 SP1 Web Adaptor (IIS) installation process will automatically install any required IIS components that are missing; however, depending on your organization's security policies, it may be necessary to manually install the required IIS components. The instructions below detail the steps necessary to install the IIS components required to install ArcGIS 10.1 SP1 Web Adaptor (IIS) on Windows 8.

The IIS components detailed below satisfy the minimum requirements for ArcGIS Web Adaptor (IIS).

NoteNote:

The IIS components listed below are only minimum requirements. If other IIS components are installed, they do not need to be removed.

Steps to add IIS components on Windows 8

  1. Click Start > Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features > Turn Windows features on or off.
  2. Expand the Internet Information Services feature.
  3. Verify that the IIS components listed below are turned on.

NoteNote:

A filled box means only that part of the feature is turned on. A check mark indicates that the feature is completely installed.

The following IIS components must be installed when performing an installation on Windows 8. If these components are not installed, the installation will not proceed until they have been installed.
