Services of elevation data can be optimized by ensuring that disk access between the server and the elevation data is sufficient, and possibly also reformatting the source data, if not in tiled TIFF format.

If no cache is generated in the initial creation of the system of elevation mosaics and services, the user may consider creating a cache for heavily used visualizations.
