Creating ArcGIS users on the data appliance for ArcGIS Server 10

The ArcGIS users on ArcGIS Server 10 must be created on the Data Appliance for ArcGIS. The following instructions are for a new data appliance configuration on Windows.

If your Data Appliance for ArcGIS is joined to Active Directory, skip to Creating shares in this document. For more information on Active Directory, see Configuring Active Directory as the security store in ArcGIS Server 10 Java Help under Administering the server > Securing your system > Securing Internet connections and Web applications > Configuring Security.

Steps:
  1. Log in to the Data Appliance for ArcGIS as administrator.
  2. Click Start > Administrative Tools > Computer Management.
  3. In the Computer Management application, on the left pane, click Local Users and Groups to expand the tree, and click the Users folder. On the main pane, right-click and select New User. The New User wizard displays.
  4. Use the New User wizard to create the following users. The passwords must be configured to match the passwords for the respective accounts on ArcGIS Server 10, and the passwords must be set to never expire:

    User Name

    Full Name

    Description

    ArcGISSOC

    ArcGIS Server Object Container Account

    Account for running the GIS Server Object Container process

    ArcGISSOM

    ArcGIS Server Object Manager Account

    Account for running the GIS Server Object Manager process

    ArcGISWebServices

    GIS WebService Account

    Account that web services use to access the GIS Server Object Manager process

  5. Click Create to create each new user on the Data Appliance for ArcGIS.
