AXF and the ArcGIS Data Interoperability extension

The ArcGIS Data Interoperability for Desktop extension is an integrated spatial ETL (extract, transform, and load) toolset that runs within the geoprocessing framework using Safe Software's FME technology.

The ArcPad AXF Reader is used by the ArcGIS Data Interoperability extension to enable the use of AXF files in ArcGIS. This functionality was added to the Data Interoperability extension at version 10.1.

The ArcGIS Data Interoperability for ArcGIS for Desktop extension is offered at two licensing levels: single use or concurrent use. Installing the Data Interoperability extension gives you immediate access to the ArcPad AXF Reader. You can create interoperability connections to AXF data, add them to maps, and use them with geoprocessing tools. You can also use conversion tools in the Data Interoperability toolbox to read AXF files.

Authorizing the Data Interoperability extension with a valid license is not required for AXF access; however, authorizing does add additional out-of-the-box support for more than 100 GIS, CAD, raster, and database formats, and grants you access to the FME Workbench application.

For more information on the ArcGIS Data Interoperability for ArcGIS for Desktop extension, see the Data Interoperability section of the ArcGIS 10.1 Help.

NoteNote:

SQL Server Compact Edition 3.0 is a dependancy of the ArcPad AXF Reader and must be installed to use the extension.
