ArcPad Check Out
The following window appears when you open the ArcPad Check Out tool:
The ArcPad Check Out tool prepares the entire feature class for use in ArcPad—it does not allow you to select a subset of features to checkout. In order to check out a subset of features using Geoprocessing tools, you must first use the Configure Project for Geoprocessing wizard in ArcMap to prepare an ArcPad project. Then you may use the Process ArcPad Project tool to automate a repeated check out process with the pre-set configuration including the feature selections. You can also use the Get Data For ArcPad tool in ArcMap to check out a subset of features.
Input Feature Layers
You can use the Input Feature Layers drop-down list and Folder button to select the geodatabase layers to be checked out. Only geodatabase feature classes can be checked out.
Password for dataset
You can choose to encrypt the output ArcPad AXF file by entering in a password.
Picture Fields
If you wish to collect and attach pictures to your features, optionally nominate the picture fields for each feature class. The syntax used in this field is layer name followed by a comma followed by the picture field name or names. Different layers are separated by semi colons. For example, to define the field PHOTOHYPERLINK to be used in the layer Poles to store the picture URL for all pole pictures, and, the field LIGHTPHOTOLINK to be used in the layer Lights to store the picture url for light pictures, then enter the following:
Poles,PHOTOHYPERLINK;Lights,LIGHTPHOTOLINK
Copy pictures to this folder when checking in data
This is the path on your desktop machine where photos will be copied when checking in your data. The path may also be a UNC share. All JPEG files in the same folder as the AXF file will be copied to this location. The original JPEG files are not deleted. Features that have been checked in to the geodatabase will refer to the JPEG files at this specified path.
Take care that the picture path length plus the length of the JPEG file name does not exceed the size of the selected picture fields. The picture page will validate this length is OK when you clickNext.
Keep path of existing pictures in data
This determines if the path of picture fields are preserved when checking out data from a geodatabase to an AXF file. When enabled, picture field paths are checked out without change. You can use this if you browse photos on a UNC share or a URL from your mobile device. If this option is disabled (default), all checked out string fields that contain the .jpg extension will have paths removed.
The full path and name of the AXF
To name the resultant ArcPad AXF file, use the Folder button to navigate to the target folder, and then enter in the required ArcPad AXF filename.
Results
The results of the check out process are shown in the Toolbox results window.
