Overview of setting communication parameters

Before you can activate your GPS, you need to set the GPS communication parameters in ArcPad to match the parameters set on your GPS receiver. The most common communication parameters are located in the GPS page of the GPS Preferences dialog box. Less common communication parameters are located in the Serial Port Parameters dialog box, which is opened by tapping the Serial Port Parameters button,

You can use the Find GPS tool, to search for your GPS if you do not know which port on your mobile device your GPS is connected to. However, you need to make sure that your GPS is connected and turned on in order for the Find GPS tool to detect your GPS. The Port and Baud drop-down list options will be updated as the Find GPS searches for a connected GPS.
