Editing schematic feature attributes

In most cases, schematic diagrams are built from GIS features or objects, and the usual philosophy is to let the GIS features/objects drive the associated schematic features; changes that impacted the GIS features/objects since the diagram was generated are automatically reported on the associated schematic features when the diagram is updated. In that case, there is no reason to edit schematic attribute values. But in some specific cases—when the diagram content is a sort of picture at a moment in time of your GIS features/objects that you want to develop in a different way, for example, or when your diagrams contain pure schematic features that are not linked to any other data—you can edit the schematic feature attributes. The following section details the steps to edit schematic feature attributes:

Schritte:
  1. Start an edit session on the schematic diagram.
  2. Click the Edit/Move Schematic Features tool Edit/Move Schematic Feature tool icon and select the schematic features for which you want to edit schematic attributes.

Several schematic features can be selected if needed.

  3. Right-click the feature layer related to the schematic features that are currently selected in the map and click Open Attribute Table.

    The Table dialog box opens.

  4. Click the Show Selected Features button at the bottom of the dialog box.
  5. Click the line related to the schematic feature you want to edit and modify its schematic attribute values.

Only the schematic attributes whose names are displayed on a white background can be edited; those with a gray background are not editable.

  6. Save the diagram edits.

Saving the diagram edits also saves the changes on the schematic attribute values.

HinweisHinweis:

Selecting schematic features before opening the related attribute table may help you to easily find the desired schematic features in this table, but it is not a prerequisite. Attribute edits can be done on nonselected schematic features.

AchtungAchtung:

For schematic feature classes related to a GIS feature class or object table, those saved edits will be overwritten by the associated GIS feature/object attribute values after the diagram is updated.
