Adding annotation (Maritime Charting)

The Digital Nautical Chart (DNC) data model stores text features in the Ecrtext annotation feature class at all scales. Annotation features display as text in the map display area. The size and shape of annotation features should match their respective hard-copy source text features.

You can either import annotation into the geodatabase or create it in an edit session. You must generate a Dqyarea feature before collecting Ecrtext features. The Dqyarea feature is required to calculate the correct size of the annotation. Therefore, you can collect annotation anytime during the production process as long as Dqyarea exists.

A geodatabase annotation feature class requires that a reference scale be set, which is applied to all text collected in that feature class. However, a DNC library can be composed of multiple charts of varying scales. The Add DNC Annotation tool allows flexibility by calculating the true size of an annotation feature based on the scale of the Dqyarea (chart) feature class in which it resides.

Pasos:
  1. Start ArcMap.
  2. If necessary, set up the DNC production environment.
  3. Click the Production Start Editing button Production Start Editing on the Production Editing toolbar.
    NotaNota:

The Manage Features and Create Attributes, Update Attributes, or Metadata Attributes windows automatically appear when you start an edit session using the Production Start Editing tool.

    SugerenciaSugerencia:

If the Create Attributes, Update Attributes, or Metadata Attributes window does not appear when you start an edit session, click the Show/Hide Attributes button Show/Hide Attributes on the Manage Features window.
