Packaging data

How does Mobile Project Center package data?

Using Mobile Project Center you can package data from mobile map services into mobile caches for a new or existing project, or you can delete the existing mobile cache and re-package data to reflect the most recent data change from a database or project extent change.

Packaging data

Steps:
  1. Create a project in the Mobile Project Center and add an operational layer from a mobile map service (read How to add operational map layers for more information), or open an existing project that includes service-based layers.
  2. If you are going to use the current map exent as the project extent, navigate to the extent of your package on the map preview. Click the Project > Set Project Extent > Current Extent. On the other hand, you can also set project exent into full extent.
  3. Click the Project > Package Data > Package.

When finished, one mobile cache is created for each mobile service and the caches are saved in a temporary location. When you save the project, the caches are copied to the project folder. When you browse to the project folder for the mobile cache(s), you will find its/their data together with attachments (if applicable).

Re-packaging data

You may want to delete your existing cache(s) and recreate a new one(s) for your project. For example, if you want to re-cache the data that has been updated by another user on the backend database, or if you want to set another project extent to package data for, you can delete the cache before re-packaging.

Steps:
  1. If you only want to refresh mobile cache data for data change in geodatabase, you can skip this step.
    1. Click the Project > Set Project Extent > Clear.
    2. On the map preview, navigate to another extent you will package. Click the Project > Set Project Extent > Current Extent.
  2. Click theProject > Package Data > Delete Caches.
  3. Click the Project > Package Data > Package.
  4. Click the File > Save.
