StreetMap for Windows Mobile

If you need to support a disconnected workflow for your field crews, you can provision your mobile devices, tablets, and notebooks with basemap data from StreetMap for Windows Mobile. StreetMap for Windows Mobile is a vector-based data product licensed for use with ArcGIS for Windows Mobile and includes datasets for North America and Europe. With ArcGIS Runtime SDK for Windows Mobile, you can also develop applications with geocoding and point-to-point routing functionality for streetmap.

To add the StreetMap basemap to Windows Mobile devices or Windows tablets and notebooks, you first copy it to your internal network, use Mobile Project Center to add a reference to the data in your project, then copy the data to each field device used by your crew. This is the general workflow regardless whether the mobile project uses the entire extent of the data product or a region of interest for your area.

Organization of a StreetMap for Windows Mobile dataset

StreetMap for Windows Mobile datasets are comprised of the following:

Adding StreetMap for Windows Mobile in the Mobile Project Center

Refer to Adding offline basemaps to learn more about adding a streetmap to a mobile project in the Mobile Project Center.

Provisioning StreetMap for Windows Mobile

Even after you've added StreetMap for Windows Mobile to your project and saved the project, you must still manually copy the data to your field devices. This is necessary because your project contains only references to this data. When the project is opened, the ArcGIS for Windows Mobile application looks for a folder matching the name of the StreetMap basemap folder specified in the project.

For step-by-step instructions on where to deploy the basemap data to, please refer to Deploying a basemap separately.
